PRAY FOR THE VOLUNTEERS OF THE CHURCH
‘The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.’
Luke 4: 18 – 19
To ‘minister’ simply means to serve and, as you know, to love, grow and serve are three of our big focuses. After praying for the success of our broad mission yesterday, let’s get personal and pray for the success of particular ministries and volunteers today. Let’s saturate our ministries with prayer!
PRAY FOR THE MINISTRIES YOU SERVE IN
Pray for each volunteer of your team; for their health, well-being and protection. Thank God for their unique contribution to your team effort. Pray about the particular challenges you face as a ministry team and for your increased effectiveness.
PRAY FOR THE MINISTRIES YOU LOVE
You may not be able to actively serve on a team you feel passionately about due to physical limitations, practical problems or life-stage issues, but that does not mean you cannot fully involve in praying for them. Prayer support is vital for every ministry. So, pray for the ministries you love … and tell the team leader you are doing so!
PRAY FOR THE MINISTRIES THAT HAVE HELPED YOU
We have all been on the receiving end of someone else’s serving. Maybe it was a Welcome team member, a Car Park Steward, a person who prayed for you, a meal someone made for you, a course someone taught that changed your life, a Small Group leader, a Postcode volunteer, a youth leader or Kids Church worker. Whichever it was, thank God for them and pray they have a strong start to their ongoing ministry this year.
PRAY FOR THE MINISTRIES WE NETWORK WITH
As a Church we cannot do everything ourselves. But our efforts are increased by working in relationship with specialist Christian ministries like the CAP, The Message, Compassion, Watoto, Hope for Justice, Transforming Wigan, Enable, People Orchard and more. Pray for their success and thank God that together we can do more!
