Stories in your Workplace

When we enter into a relationship with Jesus, his presence infiltrates every part of our life, and our workplace is no exception. Your place of work is an environment full of people with similar passions, skills and interests as you.

You may be someone who dreads the alarm clock on a Monday morning. You may not currently enjoy the work you do but it doesn’t mean you can’t love the people you work with or for. If we can go to work each day with the intention of serving others, that we are serving God, we will see the amazing opportunities where genuine friendship and openness can grow. Maybe our colleagues will meet God in ways we may have never expected?

Here are some ways we can create stories in our workplace:

ENCOURAGE YOUR COLLEAGUES

Take the Apostle Paul’s advice from 1 Thessalonians 5:11, “Speak encouraging words to one another. Build up hope so you’ll all be together in this, no one left out, no one left behind.”

FIND OUT WHAT YOUR COLLEAGUE’S ENJOY DOING OUTSIDE OF WORK

Isn’t it great when someone shows an interest in you or the things you care about? Take the time to get to know your colleagues outside of your work environment. Take an opportunity to go out with them for a coffee or to the pub after work. Open up your life to others and see how God moves.

GO THE EXTRA MILE

We all know people who go the extra little to make things the best that they can and, as disciples of Jesus, we have the amazing opportunity to do the same. Jesus always went the extra mile in His life. One example of this can be found in the book of John, when after a meal with the disciples, Jesus washed every individual’s feet. The profound factor is that he did it willfully and without complaint.

Work with a culture of excellence in everything you do, whether it’s simply speaking well of your workplace, meeting your deadlines early or adding a biscuit to the cup of tea you make for a colleague.

Now go create some great moments in your workplace and don’t forget to let us know how it went!
